Asheville taprooms and brewpubs, II

After a trip to the Blue Ridge Parkway past Mt Pisgah, I returned through South Asheville and stopped off at Wedge Brewing Co. and sampled an Iron Rail IPA. Although they had a special window for dispensing their number one seller, all these IPAs are starting  to taste the same.

The music was more unique however, with a Hawaiian band, Kon Tiki, playing in front of a curtain painted on a truck as a stage backdrop.

I just love those crazy Hawaiian shirts.
The next stop was Asheville Brewing Company and they were having a special on their canned products so I tried the Shiva IPA.

I thought I wanted a unique appetizer beyond pub grub or a pizza and headed to Barley’s Taproom. Though not a taproom, they had a number of local beers on tap, with their cans also on special. I tried Dales Pale Ale from Oskar Blues Breweries just south in Brevard. All in all, Asheville has a very advanced microbrews scene possibly about the same number of taprooms as MSP but packed into a much smaller area.
