I really enjoyed my three-week stay in Charlotte, NC. It is a very handsome, clean city. Sort of like Minneapolis transplanted into the South. I guess they solved the redevelopment issue commonly found in older cities by just knocking down old buildings and putting up brand spanking new high rises. That and having a guard at every building entrance and parking garage keeps the riff raff out. I have the feeling that this gentrification just forces the poor to neighborhoods adjacent to downtown.
I certainly enjoyed the Disco Chicken and began trying to take a photo from a different angle nearly daily. Here is a small collage.
The location of the minor league BB&T Ball Park (324 S Mint St) for the Charlotte Knights, like many of the newer major league parks, allows the use of the city skyline as a backdrop. I was there on a day when a corporation had rented the park to have some select employees to take batting practice. This allowed me to just walk around the old ballyard without having to pay an admission price. Very attractive.
