I have spent a splendid weekend in Kure Beach, NC, a tiny town south of Carolina Beach, NC on the road to Ft. Fisher, a civil war fort, and the Fort Fisher- Southport ferry which crosses the Cape Fear River. There is a stoplight at the corner of Fort Fisher Blvd and Avenue K which is center the business district and the way to the Fishing Pier, which charges admission.
There is a very nice boardwalk which extends perhaps a half mile along the beach in the direction of Carolina Beach. There is a small bandshell and a couple of restaurants, a breakfast place, a couple of other small places to eat and a stop n shop for those necessities.
There was a nice sunrise Easter service at the bandshell.
And of course there is plenty of beach to walk. One can also enter the six mile long beach in a four wheel drive vehicle at the Fort Fisher State Recreation Area.
