Thunderbird Inn, Savannah, GA

After crossing the high bridge from the north a left hand bend in road landed us at the Thunderbird Inn, the self proclaimed hippest motel in Savannah, a refurbished retro hotel with cheerful  staff, lemonade, moon pies and RC cola in the rooms and Krispy Kreme donuts for breakfast. Really a nice place to stay even if only the office area is really retro.

Sitting hard and fast by the historic district on Oglethorpe Avenue kitty corner from the Intermodal Transit Center, it is an easy twenty minute walk to the Riverfront to the northeast or Monterey Square of Johnny Mercer and Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil fame to the southeast.
