I crossed south of the James River to expand my typical coffee shop circuit and stopped off at Crossroads Coffee and Ice Cream, near the intersection of Forest Hill and Carson and across from Forest Hill park and near the Patrick Henry School of Science and Arts. The outdoor tent-covered space was nearly empty and the inside space was also not that busy. Granted, it was just a Thursday.
There was also a nice retro Hagstrom’s map of the Manhattan subway system from the days of the Horn and Hardart Automats.
Overhearing the owner’s grumbling, apparently the underground street work, detouring traffic and extending beyond the original deadline has taken its toll on business. It is still a great outdoor space to enjoy a coffee and a snack, so come out and support the business in this beautiful spring weather.
