I went to my first Earth Day events in Richmond on Saturday. The two separate events were separated by the Mayo Bridge, for those with the gumption to walk a couple of miles. The first location on the south side of the river was almost completely paved or graveled or cobblestoned, so there was very little Earth to be seen. And this was not a zero waste event as there was no separate food composting and the recycling effort seemed under-organized. The food was good, provided by food trucks from Goatacado and other usual RVA suspects. And there was a nice selection of Virginia microbrews of various styles.
The other event, near the old Lucky Strike Factory, at least had some grass under the tents.
It was a beautiful sunny day to enjoy spring, even if Earth was not at the top of the Day.
