Spiral Noodle, 螺旋, in Carytown has been open about a week and serves noodles. No real surprise there. The place was not very crowded on a steamy summer Saturday night, as they had done no advertising. The walls were painted by a VCU art professor and the changing colors of the ceiling lights survive from the previous yogurt place.
I was not feeling too adventurous and as my waitress was Vietnamese and recommended the Pho I agreed with her suggestion. The noodles, broth and beef were very good and there were plenty of sprouts with green bell pepper slices instead of sliced serrano hot peppers but the fresh basil was sparse. All the fresh ingredients were added to the broth compared to coming on the side as at Mekong. Very close to where I am staying do I will return.
