I landed at Portrait House in the Carytown neighborhood and was lucky enough to catch Billy Crystal Fingers spinning old country 45’s, most of which were unknown to me, seemingly both B-sides.
Although I used to have hundreds of LPs and I visited Nashville’s Country Music Hall of Fame and Grand Ol Opry Museum, my knowledge of country was not too much deeper than Hank Williams and other big stars. I suppose I should have recognized the Roy Acuff platter he was spinning but I did not. It was enjoyable to hear pops and clicks and other record surface noise instead of digitized autotune. As I was leaving he showed me the peace sign, so that is just another reason to return for a old time music listening visit.
