Rievkooche, Reibekuchen, potato pancakes

I finally carried out my threat and made some German potato pancakes (Rievkooche in Koelsch, Reibekuchen in German).

The recipe is a marvel of simplicity- grated potatoes, an egg, salt and some flour- then fried in oil. These are a very tasty snack dipped in no-sugar added, old fahioned apple sauce. I still remember the Buedchen in Cologne, just a trailer in an empty parking lot on Berrenrather Strasse near Suelzbuerger Strasse, with customers lined up to curb to consume this hearty fare.
