La Cala, Reina Christina, 2, Barcelona

After my luggage was delivered to my AirBnB five days late  (#aerlingus and @iberia) I didn’t have the energy for an extended search for dinner and ended up at La Cala ( Carrer de la Reina Cristina, 2, 08003 Barcelona) a couple of blocks outside Barri Gòtic. I ordered a Caipirinha made with cachacha, which sounded vaguely Portuguese, and which tasted like a sweeter version of a Hemingwat daquiri, with lots of limes but minus the cherry liquor. A prettty reasonable cocktail.

The green olives arrived mixed with cornichons (small pickled cucumbers) and pickled pearl onions, both adding a nice flavors to the green olives and different from what i had tasted before. The Paella Mixta with chicken, short rib?, scallops, clams, mussels and langostinos was tasty enough. Being an olive lover, that was the highlight for me.
