Café Sperl, 6., Gumpendorfer Straße, Vienna

With the clock ticking on my remaining days in Vienna, I hopped on a Citybike in search of Krapfen (apricot filled Berliner) or Apfelstrudel and headed to Café Sperl on Gumpendorfer Straße a couple of streets outside the ring.

I just had to suffer through a light cheesecake and a Wiener Melange coffee taken in the century-old, high ceiling, dark wood- panelled café. How did single cup pourovers of farmer-autographed, single-tree coffee beans ad/or Starbucks take over from Viennese coffee culture? I’m not really sure. The search for Krapfen and Strudel continues.
