First ripe Brown Turkey figs

After bundling up the backyard fig bush in burlap and a garbage bag last winter it is gratifying to see ripe figs that the squirrels have yet found.

The figs are ripe and a bit watery so far but tasting like figs. A quick caramelization with butter and brown sugar did not really increase the “figginess”.

Very tasty on crepes with some store-bought mango and garden cantaloupe.
