Surprise manzano pepper

We had planted rocoto pepper seed outside and it was time to renew the indoor battle with aphids trying to over winter the peppers when one plant produced a yellow pepper of the same shape, apparently the closely related manzano pepper. A very fun surprise.

These are not the hottest peppers by far but have a thick flesh and are tastier in my view than jalapeƱo or serano peppers. I chopped some of each up to bump up a simple ramen bowl.
